CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

The gentle voice was calling her, a deep rumble under her cheek, close to her ear. It was warm here, in the dream, and all that Selena wanted was to stay in it.

“Selena?”

A gentle nudge on her right shoulder, a hand that lingered there with its warmth and safety.

She opened her eyes slowly, blinking against the warm light.

The limo.

She was in the limo. With Christos. They were going back home.

As everything came rushing back to her, she jumped awake; pushed off of his shoulder.

Well, she tried to, but his arm draped across her back kept her exactly where she was, flush to his side.

He was so strong; smelled so good.

Would he notice if she nudged closer and took a whiff of his cologne?

This was so embarrassing.

She risked a look at him, because there was no running away from the man while they were trapped inside the car.

He was looking at her with a soft, amused expression. He brought a hand up to fix a strand of hair that had plastered itself to the side of her face—the side she’d fallen asleep on and pressed against his chest. So. Embarrassing.

He had his hand cupping her cheek, rough fingers caressing her skin, making it tingle. “Hi there.” His voice was low and raspy, and it went down her spine with a blaze.

“How long have I been out?” She cleared her throat that had gone dry with sleep. “Sorry, by the way. I didn’t mean to fall asleep on you like that.”

The corners of his lips tipped up; he hadn’t removed his hand yet, and it was seriously getting to her. “You went out a couple miles outside of Rethymnon. We should be home in just a few minutes.”

Selena’s eyes went wide and she twisted her neck to the side so she could look through the window.

He was right.

The buildings were back to being familiar; even the streets.

“I can’t believe I slept for more than an hour.” She turned to him with accusing eyes. “Why didn’t you wake me?”

His eyes shone with amusement. “You looked so peaceful,” he said after a few seconds. “I didn’t want to.”

She opened her mouth to reply, but before she could, her eyes fell to his chest, close to his shoulder, where she’d been sleeping.

There was a round spot, a little smaller than an egg, marking the expensive fabric of his suit jacket with a darker hue. Not only that, but there were also a few smudges of color that suspiciously looked like the same color of her lipstick.

She’d… she’d…

Her stomach clamped and her heart threatened to dig a hole through her ribcage.

“Well, you should have,” she let out through her teeth, shaking her head.

Fucking hell.

She whirled around in her seat and leaned forward to grab a paper napkin off the coffee table still laden with food and water bottles.

“What are you doing?”

She couldn’t even meet his eyes as she scooted forward and started to rub and wipe at his shoulder. And maybe she was using way more force than necessary, but damn it, it was all his fault.
